Pros: Location
Cons: My expectations were higher than their service.

So I was telling everyone about this store when I first found out about it. Educational toys, good service, point program and even Webkinz. Whenever I need a gift for a child I checked out the Coquitlam Toy Jungle first - sometime I found the appropriate gift sometimes I didn't. Recently purchased my 4 year old a Webkinz - a stuff toy that comes in a variety of animals which has a code attached to it in order to gain access to Webkinz world on the internet. Within an hour my child had realized they had picked out the wrong Webkinz. No problem - I made sure I didn't use the access code to the internet; in fact I didn't even open it. What I did do was cut the white retailer clip off the toy animal which was attached to the access code. First I tried to contact the Toy Jungle by phone but kept getting an answering service which was surprising since when I went to the store there were at least 4 people working along with a manager. Grabbed my kid and went back to the store. When I got there I was told I couldn't exchange the Webkinz since I cut off the white part of the tag and that now they couldn't resell it since I had "opened" it. This was within 3 hours of the purchase. I spoke to the manager but she wouldn't budge. Here's what I have the problem with - nowhere did it say that by me taking the tag off the Webkinz I was “opening it”. For all the money they spend trying to get me in the door you would think it would be cheaper to have exchanged the item rather than have me walking away “not satisfied”. By taking a quick peek at their point program they would have seen I’m a repeat customer who has purchased many items from their store along with many Webkinz. I honestly thought that if I didn’t open the access code it wouldn’t be a problem but even if I had shouldn’t there be some leeway? First time trying to exchange an item and left very disappointed. I get that they may not be able to sell the Webkinz that I brought back because they want to be completely sure that the code hasn’t been tampered with and that they’re not a corporate giant but what about me the customer that just made a simple mistake – shouldn’t my repeat business mean something? Too many other companies looking for my $$$ for me to go back. If a product has special considertions outside your "refund policy" simply put a little sign by the display and make it clear to us simple folk that aren't in the retail industry.
